Episode 5 – Achaemenid Georgia – The History of Saqartvelo Georgia
Hi everyone. Today we’ll be discussing Achaemenid rule in the Georgian region. We’ll go over what we do know from the sources, which isn’t much, and talk about what Xenophon saw as he marched through the region after being hired by Cyrus the Younger. We’ll also talk about why Georgia ended up being the border of the Persian empire, and touch base at what architectural influence from the Persians we have in the region.
